Hello there!
I am Tabetha and I am the owner of Prairie Sweater Co. I design and sew all of the stylish and cozy clothing you will find here.
I am a busy wife and mama of two sweet littles, trying to live a simple life on the Canadian Prairies.
I know how challenging it can be to feel stylish and confident as a mama, and my goal is to help other mamas do just that, while being super comfortable too! Motherhood is tough, but it shouldn’t be hard to find clothing that looks beautiful, fits your body, and works with your active lifestyle.
About My Shop
I have been running this shop since 2014, and sewing since I can remember! This little business was re-branded to Prairie Sweater Co in 2016, so I could find my niche in the beautiful world of women’s apparel.
Each design here has been lovingly designed and refined by me. I sew all the garments in my home based studio, and finish them professionally with serged seams and coverstitched hems.
During the busy seasons (cold months), I am blessed to have another mama friend who does contracted sewing work for me, to keep the turnaround time running at a reasonable pace. Typically it takes me about 1-2 weeks to create your perfect garment. This allows me time to hand cut, sew and package all of your orders with care and love.
I have spent many years searching for the best fabrics and materials to create products from, and I am sure that you will love them as much as I do. Right now, I use a selection of sustainable knit fibers to sew all of the clothing. A current shop favourite is the beautiful Lyocell used to make the ladies hoodies and sweatshirts- it’s so dreamy!
Countless hours have been spent making sure that these products meet applicable laws in North America, including textile standards and labeling laws. You can read more about that here and here. I am proudly CPSIA compliant and can ship products anywhere in Canada.
When you support Prairie Sweater Co, you help to promote a culture that values ethically made items from small shops. I am also able to collaborate with other shops, to continue to foster community between other mamas and entrepreneurs.
Whether you are shopping for yourself, or for a gift, you can feel great about purchasing small shop items that have been handcrafted with care and love.
If you would like more information about my products, or on opportunities or collaboration, I would love to hear from you!
Much love,
Tabetha
